Back at it … again
Mid-December threw some sticks into my spokes and sort of derailed my whole triumphant return to the world of exercise. And then my own shamefully lazy tendencies stretched out what should have been a two-week hiatus into a monthlong break. The good news is that I made it through the holidays without ditching the diet. [...]

My ass hurts
But it’s the good kind of hurt inspired by 40 minutes on an elliptical machine. I’ve had what amounts to a rough week/weekend, what with the death of someone close to me and all, but I’ve managed to take out some of that stress at the gym. I feel good about that.
Everything else in life [...]

Three times and counting
It’s a bit more haphazard being on my own now, training according to my whims and moods. But I’ve been to the gym three times since starting back, and each time I’ve felt better than the last. And I’ve performed better than the last time. And that’s something I’m supremely thankful for.
Tomorrow my informal plan [...]

There are times…
when I don’t feel awful about myself and, in fact, think I am kind of cute.
when I want to eat cheese and crackers and drink wine until 3 in the morning.
when I give in and do just that.
when I wonder if there is something wrong with me — a tumor, hyperthyroidism, etc. — that makes [...]

One small step …
Went to the gym today. There’s a lot of ground I’ve got to re-cover. But it was good to be back. Didn’t have to explain my absence to anyone. I suppose I still might run into Jade and have to explain things, but I’ll cross that bridge when I stumble up to it.
10 minutes of [...]

Eight pounds?
So, it’s nearly Thanksgiving and lots of things in my life have happened since I started the diet, but I’ve managed not to backslide very much. Those first two weeks or so I lost some poundage to the tune of three or four pounds — all the water consumption is responsible for that, I’m sure. [...]

I’ve made a huge mistake.
Well, I blew it. I had a good thing — no, a great thing — going for two whole months. In Exercise Time for me, that’s a very long time. I felt great and I was making tangible progress. But I took a trip to visit my friends for a few days and when I [...]

Two month report
Last week I worked out for five days straight, which I’m pretty proud of.
Today I met with Jade and we did supersets — mostly upper-body — and afterward we did my measurements. The bad news is that I haven’t lost any weight, but the good news is I’ve gone down to 29.1 percent body fat [...]

Today’s workout
Triceps and … back? I don’t even remember. Mostly triceps, just light I thought — kickbacks, cable, etc. I held up pretty well and used heavier weights than I expected to be able to. So yay!
Just 20 minutes of cardio afterward. A little short of my goal, but I’d had enough.

Back on the wagon
I gave myself the weekend to heal and rest. And Monday I hit the gym renewed and feeling good for my solo cardio and weight training. I can’t remember, but I did at least 40 minutes of elliptical and some random weight-lifting. Ditto for Tuesday. Today (Wednesday) I meet with Jade and I have no [...]
